Simply Porridge

I am not sure if you know that there are at least two kinds of porridge familiar to the chinese people. One is where you boil bits of meat and vegetables into a seasoned rice soup before eating it with a fried yutiao. The other kind is known as Teochew porridge, is like a typical chinese meal with rice soup instead of plain rice and other dishes (like banchan).
I had a massive craving for Teochew porridge but because I had bought some ingredients for Japanese cooking, I ended up with a weird hoggle poggle of niku jaga, wasabi octopus, natto, preserved daikon etc.

I bought the wasabi octopus from the Isetan supermarket. It was nasty and expensive (about S$7, you can see it in its entire serving in the saucer). Don't buy it :D

Breakfast 101: Bacon sandwich with crabstick salad

I love crabstick salad. It's really easy to make. Shred cooked crabsticks then mix with mayo (though in this case, I used the knoblauch sauce that B1 and I hauled back from Germany) and boiled egg bits. Dump on lettuce and munch away!

Ikea Breakfast

The reason why I call this Ikea breakfast is because I bought herring roe and a strange cheese with black wrapping (they had one in red) which were newly stocked in the Ikea supermarket.

I dumped the cheese inside the microwave for 1 min... when it came out it was all melted and gooey (hmm, I am thinking of using the rest of it on a pizza). I spread it on the bread, then hurriedly served the salad with roe. I like the bite =D.

Last Saturday Lunch

I was feeling dreadfully sleepy, and after that egg breakfast B1 did, I wasn't hungry until 3pm after I had finished ogling the male models on Remodeled. That Hunter guy from Courtier Model and Talent Management is HOT!

I wasn't feeling up to a hot meal, so I made some cold pasta. I cooked some spaghetti, dumped it into cold water (soba-style) to stop the cooking once it became al dente, mixed in some endamame, corn and black olives.

The sauce was made with bacon bits (hehe, I crave that little bit of meat), mirin, sesame seed oil, soya sauce (lesser because of the bacon), sugar, salt and vinegar. Microwave the mixture in 1 min, and toss in your salad.

After this I had a delightful snooze, which meant I stayed up until 4am. WTF.
